This policy explains what information Property Sentinel collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short on purpose — we collect little, we sell nothing.
Property Sentinel is operated by City Logical LLC, an Illinois limited liability company based in Chicago (“Property Sentinel”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us any time at jim@propertysentinel.io.
This policy covers propertysentinel.io and the related services we provide through it, including property reports, monitoring alerts, and email digests. It does not cover third-party sites we link to, such as government data portals.
The property information displayed on Property Sentinel — 311 service requests, building permits and violations, assessments, deeds, and similar records — is aggregated from public government sources, primarily the City of Chicago and Cook County. That data describes properties, not our users. We do not create or alter the underlying records, and this policy does not restrict information that is already a matter of public record.
We use cookies for three things: keeping you signed in (session cookies set by our authentication provider), remembering your recent address searches so we can offer them back to you, and basic analytics. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other sites. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking essential cookies will prevent sign-in from working.
We rely on a small set of vendors to operate the service: authentication and account management, payment processing, transactional email delivery, cloud hosting and data storage, product analytics, mapping, and address lookup. Each receives only the information it needs to perform its function. Two are worth naming because your browser talks to them directly:
A current list of the vendors we use is available on request.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your searches, saved properties, or account activity with advertisers or data brokers. We share personal information only with the service providers listed above, when required by law or legal process, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy would continue to apply to information collected under it).
We keep account information for as long as your account exists, and billing records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify the personal information associated with it within a reasonable period, except what we must retain for legal compliance.
All traffic is encrypted in transit, credentials are handled by our authentication provider rather than stored by us, and payment details never touch our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we design ours so that a breach of our systems would expose as little as possible.
Property Sentinel is a professional tool and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify account holders by email. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
